Concealed Weapon Owner Stops Stabbing Rampage in Utah

Sent by a friend, who lives near this incident:

A man stabbed two people at the Smith’s Marketplace grocery store in downtown Salt Lake City before being subdued by a bystander.

The attack took place around 5:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the store at 455 South and 500 East. According to a witness, it appears one man was stabbed in the side of the head and another was stabbed in the stomach. The exact condition of the victims is unknown, but police believe the injuries are very serious and possibly critical.

Police say a bystander with a concealed carry permit witnessed the attack and stepped in to keep it from escalating.

“(The bystander) was suspicious of what might be going on, and when he saw the stabbing, he just drew his pistol and challenged the individual,” which caused the alleged attacker to lie down on the ground, Brian Purvis with the Salt Lake City Police Department said. By the time police officers arrived on the scene, the man was subdued and is now in custody.

The attacker apparently bought the knife inside the store.

Yet another example of how guns save lives.  If the gun grabbers had their way, the man with the knife stabs and stabs and stabs until what?  The cops show up?  Someone tackles the stab happy maniac?

Why not just let responsible free people defend themselves?  After all:

The more accurate quote … “When seconds count, the police are minutes away.” … is a compelling message regarding concealed carry and gun ownership/home defense, etc.
Even in that light, I find the image posted with this story to be a demeaning one as many (most?) of our police officers are truly dedicated to “defending the citizenry”. Even police officers need to eat occasionally and the people who think this image is an accurate depiction of law enforcements attitude towards their jobs need to get a grip on reality.

I’m well aware of the original quote, I just happened to find a photo of a cruiser at a Jack in the Box.  Is this your first time here?

I’d wager it is.  We have respect for the police here.  We have police officers that read the blog.  We defend the police.

The graphic is to show that the police have other things going on while you are under assault.  While people near you are being stabbed, the police might be grabbing a cheeseburger and some tacos.

The point is, they won’t be there exactly when you need them.  You’ll have to be able to defend yourself until they arrive.

It’s not demeaning.  It’s, as you say, reality.

However you meant it, it still relays a negative message about law enforcement. By the way, it’s my first time here too…so what.

Next Lib/Dem/Prog/Statist (I repeat myself) proposed bill in the State legislature:

Mandatory background checks and 48-hour waiting period for sales of anything sharper than a butter knife (those only require 24 -hour waiting period and 2 character references).  Frosting spatulas are still OK, though…for now.

There.  Yet another problem deftly (daftly?) solved by your compassionate government overlords.
