McDonald’s took to Twitter today and responded to Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s threat to ban large sugary drinks in the city of New York.
Nanny staters like Mike Bloomberg can’t imagine the idea trusting the masses to do what is right. They have to be forced, as Bloomberg himself said:
“We’re not taking away anybody’s right to do things, we’re simply forcing you to understand that you have to make the conscious decision to go from one cup to another cup.”
“It’s not perfect, it’s not the only answer, it’s not the only cause of people being overweight – but we’ve got to do something,” he added. “We have an obligation to warn you when things are not good for your health.”
And: “I would just like to … force the consumer to hopefully move over to the less fattening drinks and everybody will be better off.”
At least he and George Washington agree on one thing: Government is force.
Hats off to McDonald’s to standing up for its customers and for personal choice.
