Romney Says He Is Vetting Marco Rubio for VP Spot

Yesterday, ABC News reported that Marco Rubio wasn’t being vetted for Mitt Romney’s running mate.

Romney says different:

“There was a story that originated today apparently at ABC based upon reports of supposedly outside unnamed advisers of mine,” Romney said in Holland, Michigan. “I can’t imagine who such people are. But I can tell you this: they know nothing about the vice presidential selection or evaluation process. There are only two people in this country who know who are being vetted and who are not: And that’s Beth myers and myself. And I know Beth well. She doesn’t talk to anybody. The story was entirely false. Marco Rubio is being thoroughly vetted as part of our process.”

Marco’s a good choice, but not my first.

I’d take someone more likely to fire up the base who was reluctant to get behind me in the first place.

Not that I have anyone in mind, per se…

    Picking Rubio = WIN
    Picking West = WIN
Picking RAND Paul (no, not Ron, we’ve had enough crazy in the WH) = WIN

Those are the three I’ve heard more people desire than any other. We’ve now had confirmation that both Paul and Rubio have been contacted, and I could swear that I’ve heard West say he wouldn’t want to be VP. Other rumors include Ryan from VA (another good choice, but he’s heavy substance, light on excitement). I’ve heard Mitch Daniels, the governor from OH (I can’t remember his name) and Chris Christie (please, no).

All in all, I think it’s going to be a good year for VP debates
