Amen! It is insulting to boldly state as fact that my husband and I did not sit around the proverbial kitchen table with paper and pen to figure out what we could cut from our young family’s budget in order to begin a business. We received no money from anyone – we took loans against our home to buy used equipment, to rent property, buy materiel and to start a payroll. That was 36 yrs ago. Through those years, the company has provided good jobs for dozens of hard working men and women and has supported their families during hard times. Our sector has been badly hit by this economy and we have, sadly, dug deep into our personal accounts to keep the business afloat. With no relief in sight, we have been forced to let staff go and are working with only a few of our long-time people. They have seen their hours reduced and benefits cut. We have seen two years of NO PAY for my husband ….relying solely on my hourly wages elsewhere to get us through. Shame on this egotistic for diminishing the hard work and dedication of those who were brave enough to chart their own course and choose to not rely on someone else for their daily bread.
