As the listeners of my podcast know, I recently destroyed my earbuds when they ended up on the floor under my desk. Serendipity stepped in and I received an email asking if I would like to try out a pair of BassBuds and review them on my site.
As I needed a new pair of earbuds, and they were free, I said, “Sure.”
Sadly, they didn’t arrive before I needed a new pair for FreePAC, so I bought a cheap pair at the local store. I’d owned a pair before and they served their purpose, but you get what you pay for.
After I arrived in Dallas, my wife sent me a text.
“Your new earbuds arrived today.”
Figures.
When I arrived back home, they were waiting for me on my desk. I was impressed with the packaging. The earbuds I just bought came in a thick plastic case. Look at what my BassBuds came in:
Pretty snazzy, huh?
That’s what I thought. Then I opened it.
It opened like a jewelry box. These guys think highly of their product.
It came with ninesets of noise canceling shells, three white rubber, three black rubber and three black foam. And it has a huge Swarovski crystal in each of them, which does nothing for me, but hey, some might like it.
It also came with all this stuff:
One thing that I didn’t realize is the earbuds can control your device. Here’s the instruction sheet:
I loosened the cord from the packaging and looked them over. It looks like a braided metal sheath covering the wires, coated in flexible plastic. The connections, where most of my earbuds have failed, looked strong, especially the plug.
It also has a mic for answering calls, so you don’t have to take them out if your phone rings.
Yeah, yeah, yeah…but how do they sound.
I plugged them into my Razr Maxx, turned on Pandora and up came Linkin Park “What I’ve Done.”
I. Was. Stunned.
The sound was so rich, it felt like I could chew on the bass. The clarity of the music was complete. There was no bleeding of highs and lows. It was like a sunset in my ears.
I know you think I’m saying this because they gave me the earbuds for free and I’m obligated to write something nice about them. I’m not. I can write whatever I want.
What I want you to know is this: these are the best earbuds I’ve ever owned.

thanks for the review – how long have you had them and how are they now?
