Bleeding Edge: Supercapacitor Battery

Researchers at UCLA are making breakthroughs in superconductor technology, and by accident have created a supercapacitor battery. You may be asking yourself, “what is a supercapacitor battery?” and that’s a great question.

Short answer: it’s a huge leap in battery tech. Once this technology matures, it’s likely to replace batteries as we know them today. Imagine charging your phone in ten seconds, or charging an electric car in the time it takes to run into the Circle K for an ICEE and a slim-jim.

The other benefit is that they’re made of carbon, so even though Al Gore will probably want to tax them, these new batteries will be completely bio-degradable.
