No posts yesterday because I was en-route to the Conservative Political Action Conference. The All American Wife and I had a 6 am flight, which put us in on the ground in Washington, DC at about 9.
We hopped on the Metro and after a few transfers, arrived at the Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan Metro station. After looking at the map on my phone, I decided the hotel was within walking distance.
The hotel was within walking distance, but it was about 90% up hill and I was toting a 700 pound air crew bag from my Navy days.
We finally made it to the hotel, checked in and BOOM! Upgraded room, baby!
We went from a normal queen bed setup to a king size Tempur-Pedic bed and, wait for it….jacuzzi.
So that wasn’t so bad. After a great barbeque lunch at Rockland Barbeque, we hopped on the Metro to the Smithsonian Metro stop and started walking again. First thing we saw was this:
After we looked at that, we decided to walk the distance to the Lincoln Memorial.
We then walked back towards the Smithsonian, but not before stopping at the Vietnam memorial. I had seen the names before, but had not seen this statue. It looks toward the wall.
We walked back to the Museum of American History and found this:
That’s Abraham Lincoln’s hat. I thought that was very cool to see.
After the museum, we met up with my brother and drove to Baltimore for dinner with my aunt and uncle. That was pretty much it. A full day of walking and by the time we got back to the room, blogging wasn’t in the cards.
I was dog tired.
So I rested in order to be at my best for CPAC today. I look forward to seeing the events to day, and relating them to you. Should be an interesting weekend.
